I think the music category would be my favorite stop for discussion. Jazz music is actually my favorite kind of music and I really enjoy the rhythm, though I still can’t figure out the origin of jazz music.

That's fascinating about New Orleans. I had no idea they were the only city to allow slaves instruments. How cruel to take music away. That makes sense how that would lead to jazz.
I enjoyed going a few times to the Saint John Coltrane Church in San Francisco, where the bulk of the hours were spent listening to the large number of musicians play. I was happy they passed out tambourines and other percussion instruments one time, and I got to join in that way. People brought planks to tap dance on. It was joyful, and also surreal with the delightful paintings of Coltrane in Messiah-like poses.
Absolutely correct, New Orleans was the only city that allowed slaves to own musical instruments during the period of slave trade and that made it possible for people who came from different countries to have a good mix of their creativity and champion what is presently known as jazz music.
I agree with you Pabulum, Jazz music is interesting and I got to know that New Orleans is credited to have housed some of the originators of jazz music.
